Strong Earthquake Hits Off Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula

A powerful earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale occurred off the eastern coast of Russia's Kamchatka peninsula on Saturday.


The quake's epicenter was located approximately 111 kilometers east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky city, at a depth of around 39 kilometers. The tremor was recorded at about 8 AM Indian time, as reported by the United States Geological Survey.


At this time, there are no confirmed reports of injuries or whether the earthquake has prompted a tsunami warning.


Previously, on July 30, a more intense earthquake with a magnitude of 8.7 struck the Kamchatka region, resulting in tsunami waves that affected several nations across the Pacific Ocean.
